Hello, this is the first post to my new blog! I’ve just installed Moveable Type after seeing it put to very good and stylish use on the Subtraction blog.
I had few problems while installing Moveable Type, the most serious of which resulted in me creating a new account with my hosting service and running the site on Unix instead of NT. The NT server didn’t have, or I couldn’t find, Perl running. So, with the help of Dave I setup a new Unix account, which has Perl running by default.
The Moveable Type application is downloadable from their site Moveable Type. It comes as a zip file, which you need to unzip. Then you simply upload the whole directory to a directory of your choice on your server. You will need to configure the mt.cfg file with the path to your install directory, and any MySQL login details (if you want to store archived blogs in your database).
Then run a couple of setup files, using a url on your website, login with “Melody” and “Nelson”, and away you go – start blogging!
Hey, have fun writing your new blog – I’m sure it’s gonna be a ripsnorter!
