Default PATH variable setting on Mac OS X

Just in case your “friend” deletes his PATH variable and screws up his Terminal, stick this in ~/.bash_profile :

export PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin
